Introduction

The CAV (Cape Advanced Vehicles) GT40 has rightly gained status as one of the best recreators of the original Ford GT40.

This particular build was commissioned by its only owner with the work carried out by A1 Autocraft and other specialist suppliers to his very exacting standards over the course of 1 year to create a GT40 recreation to an even higher standard than produced by CAV to include an improved fuel injection and dry sump system which alone cost over £25,000.

He informed us that this was the first stainless steel monocoque car imported into the UK and that it was used in the Autofutura/CAV sponsored historic racing at Le Mans in 2007 as the reserve pace car and was inspected by Stirling Moss and Ray Mallock while being the lead display car in the CAV display.

The very low mileage to date has mainly been travelling to different car shows.

It has some very practical specification to include air conditioning, rear view camera, central locking, a carpeted front luggage area, alarm and tracking system.

Mechanically it has a Ford Racing 350 Windsor engine bored and stroked to 392 cu in (6.4 litre), is dry sumped and has an RBT/ZF 5 speed transaxle to cope with the 400bhp from the 8 barrel fuel injected engine. It has Image Halibrand 17in wheels and billet Al Wilwood 6 pot brakes at the front with 4 pot Wilwoods on the rears.

An independent check on the car has been carried out prior to us offering it for sale.
To put the quality of this build in some context, we have been informed its torsional rigidity is over double that of the original car.

We believe this to be one of the very finest GT40 recreations available anywhere and at any price and are therefore very proud to have such a very special car in stock.

Invoices we have with this car total over £100,000.
