Introduction
The Ram Cobra was conceived in the early 1980’s by Adrian Cocking, the tubular space frame chassis being designed by Formula 1 Designer Adrian Reynard. In 1985 Autocar Magazine carried out a full track test at Brands Hatch pitching the Ram against the BRA 427, a Gravetti, a Python and a Dax. The then current Saloon Car Champion Andy Rouse drove all cars back to back. His conclusion was the Ram was ‘head and shoulders’ above the opposition in terms of handling and road holding. In Europe a French company ran a One Make Race Series with over 30 Ram Cobras lining up on the grid often driven by ex Formula 1 drivers. The Ram is still being further developed today by Cheng Lim of Thunder Road Cars who are considered by many to renovate and race the quickest and best handling bespoke Cobras available in Europe. Rams were the only worldwide recreation Cobra at the time to be granted personal approval by Carroll Shelby. Because of their ability, rarity and heritage, Ram’s have become very sought after and collectable Cobra Replicas.
This particular Ram 427SC captures the very essence of an early Classic Cobra with its Underslung Exhaust, Broad Roll Hoop, 15” Halibrand Style Wheels with Spinners and finished in period Ferrari Amaranto Red with Black Interior. It is fitted with the correct High Specification Ford period 302 V8, 5 Speed Gearbox and Limited Slip Differential and comes complete with Hood and Side Screens. This is a very much of its era classic looking Ram Cobra Replica finished in a similar colour to the Original AC Company Demonstrator.
Even though we have sold three Rams recently, it is getting harder to source these cars due to their increasing values, rarity and collectability.
