Introduction

AK Sports Cars was formed in the mid 80’s by ‘A’lan Frew and ‘K’en Freeman. As the company grew Ken was joined by his two sons and in 2001 moved to their current premises in Peterborough. They currently produce around 40 cars/kits a year and are a true passionate family business. What makes AK stand out from the other Cobra Replicas is the sheer quality of the body shells and attention to detail. AK use expensive resin which has a resistance to heat up to 125 degrees which helps minimise distortion. The bodies are made in house with a thick gel coat and are left in the moulds for a minimum of three days which reduces the chance of movement to an absolute minimum. The chassis is their own ladder frame design also made in house giving good road holding and the correct ride height stance.

This particular AK 427 was registered in 2001 on an ‘N’ registration plate. It is powered by a Ford Windsor 351, 5.8 Litre V8 engine with a 5 Speed Getrag Gearbox. The bodywork is a beautiful Tahiti Blue with Silver Stripes. The interior is finished in Cream Leather with Blue Piping and contrasting Blue Carpets with Cream Piping. It has a detailed Engine Bay, Stainless Steel Side Exhausts, Chrome Roll Hoop, 16” Halibrand Style Wheels with Spinners and Mesh Headlamp Guards.

It comes complete with Factory Le Mans Style Removable Hard Top, Soft Top with Side Screens and Tonneau Cover.

The previous owners have not only exhibited this AK Cobra as a Show Winner but used it for Touring Europe. Its interchangeable weather Options, Heater and addition of Power Steering make this a very practical Cobra Replica.

In November 2013 it underwent an independent inspection by a Classic Car Specialist.
