Introduction

The 997 GT3RS is revered by many as the ultimate road going 911.

If you require a car with maximum driver feedback, rapid point to point ability and engineered to handle a day at the track, it’s hard to find a better option.

And if it comes down to looks…..does this car have a bad angle?

This particular car is specified with PCCB amongst its list of options which are listed in full below.

It also benefits from a new engine fitted under warranty by Porsche only 5k miles ago!

I have the benefit of knowing all 3 owners so have a good understanding how it’s 19k miles have been accumulated, again details are below.

It is backed up by a fully documented Porsche service history and a comprehensive invoice file including the original Purchase Order and Invoice and the Engine Warranty Invoice.

Condition

Exterior - The paintwork is in extremely good condition with only a minimal level of very fine stone chips on the rear arches – less than you’d likely expect. The front end is in very good order.

Wheels - Are in superb condition with no kerbing. The black paintwork is unblemished.

Interior - Can only be described as faultless with no wearing in the seats, carpeting or trim.

Overall, in extremely nice good condition. Clearly a well looked after car having spent most of its life on road – not in anyway a tatty looking track hack.

Owners

1st – Owned to 13,337 miles, June 08 – so on engine number one. During this time he used the car mainly on road (hence the mileage) and on track.

2nd – Owned to 15,000 miles, Jan 10 - used exclusively on road. New Engine fitted under Porsche Warranty at 14,142 miles in Nov 08.

3rd – Owned to 19,240 miles, current – used on road and one wet track day. Over 2k miles were covered on our Swiss Alps tour in September 2010.

Therefore, new engine has been used exclusively on road apart from one wet track day.

New Engine

Although not an officially recognised fault, it would appear from opinion within the GT3 community, that a small batch of crank case seals on these engines leaked owing to a manufacturing casting fault – which only rears its ugly head after quite some mileage has been covered. The normal 911 achilles heel of the rear main oil seal was not a fix in this case. In fact this car had the latter fitted three times to try and cure it but to no avail.

Hence, it was fitted with a new engine at 14,132 miles. The Porsche Warranty Invoice for this with both the old and new engine numbers are included in the service history file.

Although the invoice doesn’t state the value, the 2nd owner tells me it cost £52,000.
