1969 / POP 488G Vauxhall Viva GT - SOLD

The great late Gerry Marshall had started to put Vauxhall back on the map in the late 60's, and the first of the 'trick' Vauxhalls to emerge following the formation of Bill Blydenstein and Gerry Johnstone's famous "Dealer Team Vauxhal" was the homologation special Viva GT. Unlike the later Brabham Viva, this was a proper factory built special which were all finished in Glacier White and with a satin black bonnet.
This is one of the original 1100 or so cars that were produced for the UK market, and has painstakingly been restored to original spec. Period modifications during the early 70's carried out on this particular car were the upgrade to the 'Magnum' 2.3 engine (140bhp), which came with twin 45 Dellorto's as standard, and also a rare' ZF' 5 speed gearbox.
Further period parts fitted were 'Coburn Improvements' supplied close ratio steering rack and comp spec oil pressure pump.
Rarely, this car has seen no competition work and retains an excellent shell and original interior with all the correct GT belts, wheel, dash and interior/exterior badges.
Exhibited recently at the Classic Car Show as best Viva HB GT, this is a rare chance for a Vauxhall enthusiast to enjoy the first of the quick Vauxhall's. It can only go up in value and now offers a cheap entry in to all the classic Tours and rallies.......
