1986 TWR Bastos Rover Vitesse Touring Car - SOLD

This is the factory Rover Vitesse, chassis no.19, used to contest the European Touring Car championship in 1986. Built by TWR and raced by factory owner Tom Walkinshaw and International Touring Car stars of the day - Win Percy and Jeff Allam - to great success.
This was the final evolution spec of the Rover and thus the fastest car built. The European Touring Car championship reached it's zenith in '86 and this car secured outright wins at both Donington and Monza that year.
So original is this car and so faithful to the correct factory specification, that it was the car that Tom Walkinshaw chose to hold back for his own private collection. Since being acquired, direct from that collection, it has been raced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2005 by works hero Jeff Allam and also demonstrated by him at the 2009 Silverstone Classic.
The 'Bastos' Rovers epitomise that fantastic era for Touring Cars and this evocative car still commands enormous presence, just as it did in the day. It remains in superb order throughout and highly eligible for the new pre-93 Touring Car series.
Here are the results of this car achieved in just the 1986 season:
