1972 Chevrolet Corvette LT-1 - SOLD

This is a rare and very desirable 1972 chrome bumper model LT-1 finished in metallic silver-grey, that is a national concours winner both here and in the U.S.A..

The detailed spec of the LT-1 was an increase in cubic capacity from 327 to 350 cubic inch and a corresponding increase in compression ratio from 8:1 to 9:1. This produced in excess of of 255 bhp and 350 lb-ft torque. Coupled to a close ratio manual gearbox with a direct drive top gear and a short final drive ratio of 3.7:1 resulting in a  0-60 time of 7 seconds and a 0-100 time of 17 seconds.

Further factory modifications for the '72 LT-1 included uprated dampers and springs and widetrack suspension, and this particular car has factory air conditioning which is very rare with the upgraded engine, which is a solid lifter, small block. Only 286 units were produced with this spec.

This car was imported in 1998 direct from winning the best Chevrolet at the Hershey Concours competition. Since then it has gone on to win two national Corvette concours competitions, here in the UK in 2005 and 2006. In addition to the two gold award trophies, it also received the Judges Choice Rosebowl for the best car on display at a national Corvette competition twice.

This car is as immaculate underneath as on top and comes complete with all original tools, handbooks, service books and brochures from the period. It also has a fitted cover and individual covers for the two 'T' top covers for the roof.

It has never been out in the rain and has covered just 20,000 miles from new, having always been stored in a heated and dehumidified private garage as part of a significant private collection.

You will not find better anywhere. A truly amazing discovery and great to drive!
