1963 / 482 UXU Ford Anglia 105E HSCC Race Car - SOLDDescribed by the previous owner as one of the most successful Ford Anglia's to ever hit the Historic Racing Saloon scene, this was thanks in part to the excellent build specification and also to revered drivers such as John Shipman and Mark Hales who have campaigned the car.
Originally bought by Jon Shipman at the end of the 90's the car was initially campaigned in the 1000 cc class. During the 2000 season the car broke the lap record at Silverstone for the 1000cc class. It also set many more lap records at other circuits on its way to class victories, one of the more memorable being the 1hour Top Hat race at Silverstone. Following its success in the 1000cc class in 2000, the car was then stripped to a bare metal shell for a complete re-build and paint in Porsche Riviera Blue. During this process many modifications were made along with the installation of a new and specially prepared 1300cc Geoff Richardson engine. This rebuild culminating in over 700 man hours to complete the car to very exacting standards. Now weighing approximately only 600kilograms, the vehicle was extensively raced and tested by Mark Hales throughout Europe and comes with set up data for many UK and European circuits both in dry and wet conditions. This car was raced worldwide between 2000 and 2005 with many lap records, race wins and championship victories. Here are a selection of the lap times: MONTHLERY (2.1miles) 1.44 CHIMAY (2.8miles) 2.14 ANDERSTORP (2.5miles) 2.00 DONINGTON GP (2.5miles) 2.04 SPA (4.3miles) 3.06 SILVERSTONE GP (3.1miles) 2.17 SILVERSTONE CLUB (1.6miles) 1.13 This potent competitor is comprised of a steel shell body with glass fibre bonnet, boot, doors and wings and Lexan windows. In 2007 it was fitted with a new Advanced Fuel Systems Polyurethane Fuel Cell (current) which also comprises Facet pump in the boot. Geoff Richardson built the engine creating a 1300 dry sumped pre-cross flow GR010102 to full Cosworth specification. It includes Arrow con-rods and Twin 45 Webers producing 154bhp @ 8100rpm and 105 lbs/ft torque @ 6000rpm. The transmission is a 3 rail close-ratio, straight-cut gearbox with Tony Thompson magnesium bellhousing and gearbox casing, complete with aluminium tailshaft and differential. Uprated half shafts are also fitted. Stopping comes courtesy of Wilwood 4 pot callipers with vented discs at the front, and Wilwood 2 pot callipers with solid discs at the rear. Bias pedal box. Remote fluid reservoir. The suspension is Leda 2.25" coilovers with alloy hubs at front, and Leda uprated dampers with remote reservoirs and single leaf springs at the rear. To apply the power to the tarmac, the wheels are 6Jx14" Minilight-style with CR 65 Dunlop racing tyres. The functional interior includes Stack dials, quick release steering wheel, Sparco bucket seat, Willans four-point harness, weld-in roll cage built to FIA spec and tunnel mounted switchgear. Most unusually the car has a full MOT and road tax until August 2012 allowing the possibility of road rallies or competitive Tours to be undertaken as well as 'drive to' sprints and hillclimbs. Reputed to have cost a six figure sum to build and develop, it represents exceptional value today. .
