The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI Coupé was introduced in 1974 on the new G-Series chassis that was built to appease the stricter US regulations for crash worthiness.
With an impressive 210 bhp, 2,687 cc Type 911/83 air-cooled, horizontally opposed, six-cylinder engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, 0-60 was achieved in just over 5 seconds and gearing was good for 150mph through a 5-speed manual transmission. The 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI was the fastest production 911 until the late 1980’s.
In a short three year production run only 1,647 Euro specification MFI Carrera Coupes were built and there are currently only 48 right- hand drive variants listed on the Carrera 2.7 MFI Register. The rarity factor is further compounded as our sunroof equipped model is believed to be 1 of only 21 built for the UK market.
The history file for this 2 owner, yes 2 owner Ice Green Metallic Porsche 911 is a joy to behold. From new to 1991 the car was looked after by the owners local Porsche Centre and then the car was maintained exclusively by a respected Porsche specialist Chris Best from 'Two-Plus-Two'. There are 7 service stamps in the original service book and many invoices for work carried out over the years.
The current owner has spent a great deal of time and gone to great expense to have a meticulous and sympathetic restoration carried out on this very special motor car. The engine and gearbox sent to renowned Porsche engine builders 'Tech 9 Motorsport' in Liverpool whilst ‘RS 911' set about the bodywork and every effort was made to preserve as much of the original car as possible. Other than two new front wings and basic perishable items, the rest of the car was restored using existing components that were repaired or renovated. The sills and floor pans have never been touched.
The results of this restoration must be seen to be fully appreciated, this is a very rare and honest 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI and must be the very best on the market today. Complete with original tools, radio, windscreen transfers, wallet, service manuals and ownership paraphernalia, there are even letters between the current owner and the supplying dealer in 1975. A large number of bills and photographs document the complete restoration process.
